Bright Barn Studio's children's art classes and immersive workshops are inspired by artists and illustrators we admire... and whose work processes merit master class study.
Certainly the great, well-known masters such as Matisse, Rothko, Jasper Johns and Chagall inspire us, but so do myriad less well known artists and author-illustrators of modern children's literature, from Dahlov Ipcar to Oliver Jeffers. We seek not to reproduce or copy, but rather to internalize processes mastered by the artists we study. Each workshop will be an organic, self-directed exploration by the student.
We inspire with art, then we teach processes which our students can apply to their own work.
Children can begin at their own level and navigate the workshop theme and processes at their own pace. Our focus on teaching skills and techniques offers authentic artistic experiences that are developmentally appropriate.
