Experimental Art Making Workshop - November 23, 2016

Experimental Art Making Workshop - November 23, 2016

60.00

1-4pm, November 23, 2016

Inspired by Jackson Pollock, Jasper Johns, Mark Bradford and Robert Rauschenberg, we will explore using alternative means of making marks on paper and canvas.

How?  Experimenting with methods most parents would prefer not to employ in their own play room:

  • poured paint and ink
  • crayons in mini glue guns
  • feathers, combs, Q-tips, straws and other found items used with paint, ink or glue to create spontaneous marks & thoughtful patterns

We will explore working with a variety of materials limited only by imagination and common sense safety. Once students have come up with a pleasing composition, finishing processes can be compared and used in any way the student wants.

All workshops are limited to 15 students.

Full 3-hour studio art session with time before to settle in, and Extended Care available until 6pm.

All materials included in workshop fee.

During the 2016-2017 school year, all Bright Barn Studio Immersive Workshops will be held at the Parish House of Union Congregational Church at 220 Main Street, Groton, MA.  The entrance is on the Willowdale Road side of the building.

A stone's throw from Filho's Cucina and Donelan's, our workshop location is within a 7-minute walk of Groton's Florence Roche Elementary School and Middle School campus. Please arrive between 12:30 and 12:45PM if you can so that your child can get situated before the workshop begins at 1PM.

We've purposely scheduled our Immersive Workshops for dates when FloRo and/or the Middle School have an early dismissal day or full day off.

Need to work?  No problem!  We've got you covered from school dismissal to 6PM with two options:

  1. Add Extended Care coverage before Bright Barn Studio workshops with the purchase of a "Walking Bus" pass for $10. Please be sure fill out the form attached to that option so that we have permission to pick up your child at school dismissal time.  Please note: both instructors are CORI-certified.
  2. Add Extended Care coverage after studio from 4-6PM.  Buy coverage in advance for a discounted rate. Please see Extended Care registration option for more details.

Don't forget to pack a lunch for your children to enjoy between school dismissal and workshop start time of 1PM. Water bottles are very much encouraged.

Healthy snacks will be provided for all children as part of the workshop, so please advise us of any allergies!

Children who are not picked up by 4:10PM will automatically be included in our Extended Care service.  You do not need to call us unless an emergency arises.  We might be silly dancing, enjoying a snack or playing board games when you arrive, but there will be no television or other screen time offered.
